GameCube - GameCube cheats - Super Mario Sunshine cheats

Return to the Airport

Super Mario Sunshine is the long awaited Mario game on the Nintendo Gamecube. Super Mario Sunshine (SMS) in no way disappoints the gamer, be they average or pro. The game is easy enough for beginners to grasp, and challenging enough to be enjoyable months out of the box. Some of the puzzles are obscenely easy (You get Shine Sprite now) to scenarios you wish your controller was made out of concrete so it won't break when you throw it (or your dog) out the window in sheer gaming frustration.

If you are looking for a solid title on the Gamecube, the wait has been worth it gentlemen (and ladies). Super Mario Sunshine features bright, colourful eye candy, responsive controls, and old fashioned gaming that may be rivalled, but never surpassed by any other title available.

Our guide will show you how to get every Shine, collect each of the 240 Blue Coins and generally beat the crud out of this game.

Return to the Airport
Once you've beaten the game (and saved your game), you will be able to go back to the Airport from the very beginning. It'll cost you, though. For the price of 10 coins, a boat close to the clocktower where you find Yoshi will take you to the Airport level -- which is filled with coins and fun stuff to do. Give it a try!
Sunglasses and Hawaiian Shirt
Want to see Mario in a different outfit than his trademark blue overalls and red shirt? How about putting on some shades and slipping into a shirt that would make even Tom Selleck jealous? The shades are easy to get. Look for a man with black sunglasses in the hub world (he's at the beach, close to the fruit stands) or in most of the other levels and talk to him. When you've gotten 30 Shines, he'll give you a pair of sunglasses to wear, which will darken your screen appropriately. Note, the sunglasses will disappear the moment you step into another level or restart the game.

The same guy will also give you a Hawaiian shirt -- but you've got to do some work first: finish the game. If you've saved your game after you beat the last big boss, you'll be able to get your shirt anytime you talk to this guy.

Secret Moves
There are a couple of undocumented moves in Super Mario Sunshine that come in handy:

  • Sprinkler Backflip: While spraying water forward (standard nozzle), press the A button to perform this backflip that sprays water at the same time.
  • Water Slide: Create a small puddle of water in front of yourself, then perform a head dive. You will now slide forward on your belly, slowly picking up speed until you cancel the slide by pressing A.
  • Yoshi Sprinkler: You already know that you can get rid of large areas of paint quickly by rotating the Analog Stick quickly, then pressing R to send Mario's water whizz everywhere. You can also do this while riding Yoshi.
Feed Yoshi Remotely
If you need to dismount Yoshi for a long time and do not want it to run out of juice, leave Yoshi near some fruit and it will auto-feed itself when its juice meter dips low.
Fast Lives No.2
After obtaining the Rocket Nozzle in Delfino Plaza, blast to the roof of the building directly behind the fountain where your nozzle boxes are located. Go down the pipe to enter Sirena Beach. Be sure that you select episode-1 (The Manta Storm). Head immediately toward your left and ground-pound the middle crate. An extra life will appear. Then go to the right-side of the board where the electrical slime is. Clear the slime between the hut and the tree to rescue two friendly characters. Talk to them and they'll each give you an extra life. Exit the area and repeat as often as you like. This takes less than a minute.
Hint: Music Fudging
This trick works on the Gelato Beach level in the stage, "Wiggler Ahoy! Full Steam Ahead!". Battle Wiggler as usual, then, when you've ground pounded the worm the third time, you'll hear the boss music slow down. Before the Shine Sprite appears, press Z to view your map.

If you timed the Z press correctly, you'll hear the slower remix of the boss music! In the map mode, hit cancel, then IMMEDIATELY press the Z button again to listen to a much faster remix! This doesn't give you any extra lives or anything, BUT it is useful if you love game music!
Hint: Bubba-Proof
In Gelato Beach and other levels where there are Bubbas (the big red fish that drags Mario underwater), you can keep them from doing this attack with this little trick.

Pick up a piece of fruit and start swimming with it. It will enable a glitch where they cannot drag you. This is very useful for the Red Coin Shine in Gelato Beach.
Hint: Fast Lives
You can quickly gain lives once you finish the game:
  • Start by collecting 10 coins then going to the Airport.
  • Next, collect 50 gold coins at the Airport.
  • Now, select quit without saving to return to town.
  • Head back to the Airport and collect 10 coins to reach the magic 50 mark again.
  • Repeat ad nauseum.
Hint: Conserve Lives
To build up Mario's stock, try to quit stages when you are about to die. This would apply to stages like the racing stages (with the Islander who likes to race) and some of the mini-stages (like the Pachinko stage).

If you can restart the stage easily (and quickly), you should learn to quit when Mario is in danger of dying. This will let you have a large stock of lives to tackle stages and mini-stages that you want a lot of lives to spend on (the Dead Leaf in a Dirty Brook mini-stage comes immediately to mind).

Hint: Even Faster Lives
Go to Pianta Village and Choose the episode titled "Piantas in Need" and save all the Piantas and the villagers who gave you blue coins before will now give you 1-ups instead.
Hint: Yoshi spin jump
You can use Yoshi to jump much higher than the normal yoshi hover jump by rotating the analogue and pressing A, the spin jump can be executed as with Mario as well but you have the added bonus of being able to hover by holding A at the peak of the jump.
Hint: Running Nozzle Trick
When you get the running nozzle, (The one that dark Mario steals) then you can do a trick where you use it but do not run your water down. What you do is that you hold R to charge up. Once charged, you will run, but once you run, jump and let go of R. Then before you land, you quickly hold R again, but hold it about half way down. You will still be running, but you won't lose any water. Try it and see for yourself.
Hint: Neutralise The Second Law Of Motion
Mario loses life when he falls a long vertical distance. You can prevent this by pressing L to do a butt stomp to cancel his falling momentum. This trick will not work if the fall happens to be terminal or over a bottomless pit.
Glitch - Undertown
Unverified. I found this out on accident. To get below the town, at the beginning, when you appear in front of the statue, head North-West toward the Palm Tree (the one in front of the Pink-Roofed building). Climb to the top of it. Now, switch to the Hover Nozzel and hover toward the roof of the building. Stay low (about the side of the pink roof), as if you would grab on if you ran out of time or hit the side of the building. Keep your nozzel on as you hover into it.

If you did it correct, you will fall through the building, hear the underground music for a split second, then land under the town. If you plan to run around, jump constantly, because if you stay still for too long, you will die. And if you jump near the underground pipes, you will fall into them and you will no longer be under the town.

symbol and a Shine should appear.

Water slide

In bianco hills, you enter where there are trees and a stream. Run as fast as you can, then when you  reach the start of the stream press B (while running) and you will slide very fast to the water. It is fun, but the cheat is to aim for the spurt of water at the start of the "water slide". You will hear a sound and you automatically refill your water pump in a mill-second.

Golden Bird

In Delfino Plaza there is a tiny golden bird by the island with the guy on it. If you're looking at the island from the coast, it will be to the right. Swim over to the island and after that, swim to the right. The bird will be sitting on the water. Don't get too close or it will fly away. Spray it a few times and it will turn into a shine. The shine will go over to one of the islands to the left of the shore. I think the best way is to go into view mode but you can do it any way you like.

How to Beat the Chain Chomplets Unchained In Planta Village

In planta village (entrance on top of the shine gate, get at it with the rocket nozzle) there is an episode thing called chain chomplets unchained. there are little red dog typed things running around. what you have to do is go to the spring (it is kind of like a small river, just look for it, it isn't hard to find) and wait. when a dog thing comes bye spray its head until it turns black and becomes kind of friendly. then grab its tail and aim it at the spring. stretch back the tail as far as it will go and then release it. the dog thing will shoot into the water and turn white and have his head stuck in the sand at the bottom. be careful of the goop in this level, it burns you!!!

2 Blue Coins In Siereina Beach

Go clean up the area around the the hut with coins go clean up both then when u are done two people will pop out of the electric goop spray them clean then go talk to them they will give you a blue coin each.

Coloured Water (Juice)

First you have to have about 40-45 sprites, and then you go to a rooftop by the big bell, and you will find a yoshi egg (if u got it off shadow mario) with a fruit above it. go and get the fruit it wants and give it to the egg. a yoshi will appear. squirt juice with r and you have colored water.

After that you must get through the Corona Mountain level dousing fire, dousing spies, traveling across lava in a boat, and then use the rocket nosel to go up through clouds landing on each one. Then you land on the edge of a poolwere Boser and Baby Boser are relaxing in. Be careful, the water is hot it will burn you and take off 3 damage. you must knock the pool off balance so you drop through the sky by using the rocket nosel and then "ground pound" the targets while dodging bullet bills and steaming hot water.

How To Get 1 More Shine Sprite In Isle Delfino

To Get 1 More Shine Sprite in Ise Delfino you must get the the rocket nozzel. Then go to the lighthouse thing where the blue toad is. After that go to the top of it then you will see a pictue of a comet, and go up with your rocket nozzel do a megs ground pound. You will break it and a shine sprite will appear then get it with you rocket nozzel.:)

Corona Mountain

Corona Mountain is extremely hard but not any more. The time you go is when the spikes come up, and the fire you blow out with your hover nozzle. Oh goody we got through that now we deal with the Crashing Titanic. The boat is simple. If you shoot right you'll TURN left and the same thing with the left. If you want to get through this level you'll need a light touch. When I said about the rights and lefts you also need to shoot backward. If you are going to crash in something go to the front and shoot. When you get to the end you'll maybe 6 blue coins. You decide if you want them. Now Good-Luck=)

Free and extra lives

Life 1-(Isle Delfino)Go to the island near the lighthouse where the man who says he has been lost on the island for 3 years. Put water on the campfire, and quickly chase the life that comes out.

Life 2-(Isle Delfino)Go to the man who thinks about giving you sunglasses. Walk a few steps towards the lighthouse from there, and you might here the sound of metal and see a circle. Ground Pound it and in the middle of the cave there is a life.

Now, once you have these two lives, save the game and then turn off you Game Cube.
Turn it back on and you will have 6 lives, and you can continusly do this cheat (12 lives-18lives-24lives etc;)

Five Free Shines

Shine 1-Walk over to the lighthouse (Delfino Plaza),and stand on the sand next to it.
Spray water a lot on the sand in different places, until you come across what looks like a flat shine. Ground pound it and a shine will appear on the towers in the sea.

Shine 2-When you get 25 shines, you will chase evil mario. When he hands over the turbo booster, go back to where you first saw him.In a nearby building you will see a shine in a room. Face the door, and do a turbo-run into it. Jump, and walla, you have a shine!

Shine 3-In Delfino Plaza, jump on to the roof anywhere. Walk around for a while and you will see a man sitting down. Talk to him and he will ask for three coins. Give him them, and he will throw you into a tower with a shine.

Shine 4-When you get the rocket boost in Delfino Plaza, walk over to the lady who asks for fruit, and has a basket which is high.
Jump onto the net, and you will be in a pond.
Use your rocket boost, and you will land next to the mega-shine. Clean it and you will get a shine. Also, there is a new world in the pipe.

Shine 5-In Noki Bay, for episode 2, you will find a MEGA trampoline in one of the tunnels. When you jump to the top, there will be a gold parrot. Spray it a few times, and it will turn into a shine.

Entrance to Noki Bay

When you get 20 shines, a big rainbow looking thing will appear in front of a fountain.
stand in it, and press 'y'. Look into the sun.
You are now in Noki Bay.

Two Blue coins

DELFINO PLAZA

Blue Coin 1-In Delfino plaza, land in front of the statue.
Walk right, and you will see inside a building a blue coin. Swim around the back of the building, and you will see a hole. Go in it, and you are infront of a blue coin.

Blue Coin 2-In Delfino Plaza, climb onto the rooftops. You will see a flock of parrots. They are all green, except for one, which is blue. Spray it, and pop, its a blue coin.

Get free coins out of a windmill

What you have to do to get free coins out of windmills is you have to go to the first level and spray a windmill until a coin comes out but you can't stop spraying until it pops out you can do this with all the windmills.

Turbo Nozzle Gravity Defiying Jump

You probably won't find this move in any strategy guide or another site and keep in mind it's just for fun.

You can't turn very fast with the turbo nozzle and you can't turn at all while jumping with the turbo nozzle. You can though with this move.

First get the Turbo Nozzle then start using it to go really fast.  While your going fast spin jump(rotate control pad then press A) and immediately after that press Y to go into the view mode.  While your in view mode going extremely fast you can turn while spinning in the air inside view mode!!  That way you can run around Delfino Plaza with the turbo nozzle doing insanly tight turns and even do 180 degree turn while in the air with the turbo nozzle running!

It kinda confusing but if you get it right it's pretty fun to run around with.

Defeat the King Boo guy

ok, go to the hotel in sierena beach and talk to the dude in front to go in. then go talk to the pink guy who looks like a sailor and he'll let you in the casino. now go on the big round thing in the middle of the room and pound on the purple tile. then it will go to some secret chamber. now king boo will come out of the middle. shoot water at him and he'll spin the slot thingy. if you get all pinapples,he'll give you food! then throw the long, red food AT HIS TONGUE! if done correctly his tongue will catch fire. then quickly throw a different piece of food AT HIS FOREHEAD! if done correctly, he'll be injured. do this one or two more times to defeat him!

Corona Mountain

To get to Corona Mountain, you have to beat the first 7 levels in each world. After doing so, the town will be flooded, and you have to chase shadow Mario into the mountain. Basically, you have to use the hover nozzle to douse the fire platforms and timing to avoid the spikes. You also have to be careful because the fire and spikes do 3 damage and the lava kills you. The boat is hard, but you can get through. Good Luck!:)

Refill Your Water cannon

Go in any part of water you can find. Then press R.Your watercannon should be full!

Mario's Hawaiian Shirt and Sunglasses

Get His SUN GLASSES
To get Mario's Sunglasses go to the blob in the Hub - World wearing Sunglasses and a Hawaiian Shirt, Go to him and talk to him. You have to talk to him at a certain part of the game in the hub world! If you have already beaten the game it will still work, even when you get to the Hub world and talk to him its not going to work unless you talk to him at a certain part of the game!

Get his HAWAIIAN SHIRT
Once you have beaten the game go back to the hub world and talk to the same guy you got your sunglasses from! You will get to see mario in a total new outfit!!! (other than his SHORT SLEEVED shirt with his overalls!) This is a very cool cheat because for 20 years we have seen Mario in his red LONG SLEEVED shirt and his overalls!

Update for Sunglasses

The real way to get the sunglasses is to get 30 Shine Sprites and alreadly have Yoshi unlocked. Then go talk to the guy, and he will give you the sunglasses. The Hawaiian Shirt, you really do have to beat the game.

Defeating da bosses

Bianco hills-To defeat him, spray the water into his mouth when he is about to spit out brown goo at a random place. Do this quickly.
When he's down ground pound him on his stomach. Do this 3 times and you'll win.

He'll be back next time, and when he does, search for his perch. Fill up the balloon creatures with water, adn launch it at him. When you begin the fight, do the same process, but this time, he will fly. Spray him to get him down. When he does, he'll send tornadoes at you. Avoid the attack and defeat him!!!

Ricco harbor- Spray his face until his eyes get red and when he slaps tentacles at you, ground pound his tentacles. Then pull his snout back and snap it. Do this two times and you'll win. He'll return the second time, but do exactly like I had told you. (Look at Super Mario Sunshine strategy Guide for more information.)

More Tips

Wanna learn how some of the water cannon functions work? Let me show you. First use the regular pump function to clean up sludge on the walls and ground. Use the hover function to go across large gaps ad hover while you clean the sludge on the ground, its two in one! The rocket function allows you to soar to new heights by making you blast off like a rocket. The other function allows you to quickly gain speed on land and water use this as an escape or to get somewhere quickly. Use these functions in the right ways and maybe you might master them very efficiently!

Total Number of Shine Sprites

Ok. A lot of people are wondering how many Shine Sprites there are in the game. Well there are a total of 120 Shine Sprites. The shines break down as follows: Each of the seven main levels has eight shines, two hidden shines, and one 100 Gold Coin Shine. That's 77 Shine Sprites. Delfino Plaza has 16, the Airport has 2 plus the 100 Gold Coin Shine, and Mount Corona(the last level) has 1. That's a total of 96 Shine Sprites. Now, each main level has 30 blue coins, while the Airport has one, the Plaza has 19, and Mount Corona has 10. That is a total number of 240 Blue Coins. Cash them in the Racoon Hut in town to bring the total up to 120 Shine Sprites.

Get 100 coins

Getting 100 coins can be a problem. But I'll help you out with where to go and with some advice on what to do.( I've done these before so it should work).

DELFINO AIRSTRIP
Grab the Rocket Nozzle and follow the line of coins. Don't forget to jump on the enemies.

BIANCO HILLS
Episode 3-Coins are very easy to find here. Make sure you destroy the enemies. There's 2 owl like birds flying around the area where there was 2 bee hives. Or it was the area with many palm trees. Squirt the 2 birds with water collecting their coins until they give you a 1-up. Then just keep squirting the bird until it touches the ground or jump on it to get another coin.

RICCO HARBOR
Episode 3-Make sure you explore the tunnels and try to jump out through holes whether there's boxes on it or not. You can find valuable coins there. Scour the catwalks and hop on top of bloopers to discover more coins.

GELATO BEACH
Episode 8-Bring watermelons to the stand to get some coins. High above the stand is a wire which you can swing on to nab some more coins (hold up as you jump off of the wire as it's spinning). Cataquacks will give you a coin if you spray them and then jump on them. More coins are under the stands dock. and on the ceiling of the beach house. There's more by riding the swing on the small island.

PINNA PARK
Episode 2-Spraying the beach will give you some coins but you might want to look more into the flying bullet bills. It's possible to get 999 coins in this area if you're patient. Just keep on spraying those bullet bills. Look for the gold ones. They give you the most coins!

SIRENA BEACH
Episode 1 or 4-It'll take awhile but in Episode 1 you can get a 100 coins by spraying the ground (beach, grass, path, etc.) and grabbing the coins just laying around. It takes awhile but I've done it!
In Episode 4 you can take your chances by grabbing as  much coins as you can before entering the casino and hope you win enough coins to get the shine before you get the three 7's.

NOKI BAY
Episode 6-Most of the coins are lined up across the water. Check inside the cliff walls and near the Rocket Nozzle.

PIANTA VILLAGE
Episode 1-You can extinguish the flames on the mushrooms, then pound their caps to uncover some coins. If you pound the nose of the Pianta shaped tree and pound inside the concrete basin you can get some more coins.

In some Episodes it's not possible to get 100 coins. All of this information is very accurate and should be helpful in your hunt!

Return to airport!

(This is the Same person who put Mario's Hawaiian shirt and Sunglasses!)

For the Hawaiian Shirt I found out that the Hawaiian shirt is shaped like a shine pattern and you really don't have to beat the entire game to get it!

But for this one you do! To Return to the airport, beat the ENTIRE game and get back to the airport and there will be a lot of cool fun stuff to do there, like get coins and all that! Its sort of like a small unknown secret level! So try it out, its pretty cool!

How to beat the Squid thingy

This is very simple. All you have to do is daze the enemy(or not) then grab the squids tentacle and move backwards and then SNAP! It comes right off!

The Pesky Pirahnna Plant

When you get to the large sludge spitting piranha plant in the windmill you'll have to beat it in order to move on. When it opens up its mouth use the spray function on the water cannon to pray water into its mouth.Aim carefully. When it tips over and a red arrow appears do a ground pound on the bump on its stomach. To do a ground pound, while your in the air press the L button and you should do a ground pound. Watch out for the enemies and the sludge the piranha lant spits out. The sludge will damage you. Also be aware he has a special trick for if u get too close. To regain your life the piranha plant should make some miniature replicas of itself and when you spray them with your water cannon they will drop coins. And your water cannon will refil itself automatically when u run out.Do the sray and pound combinations a few times to gain victory. And if the pirahnna plant should spit out sludge than oint your water cannon down at the sludge and clean it up. You now know how t!
o beat him. Just know not to get too close or he will use his special trick(he'll swipe you with his head and do it in a counter-clockwise direction).Go get him!

Walking Wires

In the first level you can walk on clotheslines and you wont fall off so dont worry. When you are on a clothesline press the A button to jump high.Try it!

Tips For Beginners

Some tips that are very helpful include the fact that you should use the hover setting on your water cannon to get across gaps and to explore when high up by jumping off a high object and the hitting the R button. Another tip is when your in the water press the B button to dive. Who knows what treasures lurk in the water's murky depths. Also if you keep blasting away an M on a wall left by the culprit who polluted the island you will get a blue coin. In the first level you will find a blue coin in the river. You'll also find a huge M on the top of the building with the big wheel. Blast it to get a blue coin. Find the huge Ms in the other levels too. Ill keep u informed on more tips!

Two rounds of boxing!

On Isle Delfeno, on the docks(not the one with the boathouse) you will see a plot of land with water in between you and it. After going into Banico Hills for the first time, a building will open its doors, go in, and talk to the person inside he will want you to bash all of the boxes, if you compete this task in time, he will give you a shine sprite. You may
do so twice, though each time is harder than the last.

New Nozzles

To get the "turbo nozzle", first, get 25 shine sprites. Then, back in Isle Delfeno, shadow Mario will appear holding an object. He
will, as usual, he will run. Spray him as you run after him. You now have the turbo nozzle.

To get the "rocket nozzle", get 30 shine sprites, and do the same thing as to get the
turbo nozzle. Hint: For a preview of the rocket nozzle, go to Ricco Harbor on Episode 2.

Successfully complete and save the game. You can pay 10 coins to use a boat near the clock tower where Yoshi is found to return to the Airport level at the start of the game. Additionally, you can get a Hawaiian shirt in addition to the sunglasses that the man wearing sunglasses gives Mario normally during the game.

Bianco Hills: Coins
Go into episode 3 and kill many enemies to get Coins. Splatter fake flowers against the wall to get three Coins.

Your best chance to pick up 100 Coins is in episode 3. There are lots of easy to find Coins. Do not forget to splat enemies on the ground, in the trees, and the two bird-like things in the air outside of the gate.

Bianco Hills: Extra lives
After you complete episode 3 (The Hillside Cave Secret), go back into Bianco Hills and choose episode 4. Instead of doing that episode, go back to the hillside cave. This time you do not lose FLUDD. There is a secret level up there, where if you press the red plunger you have to collect red coins in the allotted time. Do not hit it. Simply go up to the first wood platform with nails and Ground Pound the right nail three times until the 1-Up appears. Then, using the Hover Nozzle, make your way toward the end of the level. You will see the second 1-Up in the air above the second star. Use the Hover Nozzle again to get it without worrying about your step. Then, simply fall and die. Since you collected two 1-Ups, you will have a net gain of one 1-Up, The game starts you at the beginning of the cave, where you can repeat this as many times as desired to build up your extra lives. Once you get used to it, this will take about 30 to 45 seconds each time. When done, you can either do the red coin deal (gives you a Shine), or jump to the non-lit Shine to exit. Since you did not die, this time you will have a net gain of two 1-Ups.

Bianco Hills: Yoshi or Turbo Nozzle
If you want Yoshi and the Turbo Nozzle, do the same requirements to get Yoshi, but before you complete Pinna Park episode 4, try to have 25 Shine Sprites. When you get Yoshi, enter Bianco Hills. As soon as you get there, exit, then chase the fake Mario and get the Turbo Nozzle. When you go by the place you enter Bianco Hills, you can use the Turbo Nozzle or Yoshi

Birds
There are birds in almost every level in the game. Spray a green bird for a Yellow Coin, a blue bird for a Blue Coin, and a yellow bird for a Shine Sprite.

Bouncy roof does not work
At the beginning of the game, you can hop up on top of the crates and onto the bouncy roof (it will not bounce you).

Corona Mountain: Coins
There are ten Blue Coins in Corona Mountain. Try to get all of them in the boat.

Cover more area with your FLUDD
Jump three times to do a forward somersault. As you roll, shoot your Nozzle Cannon and spray a long distance in front, behind, and below you.

Dancing Mario
This trick will work anywhere except in underwater missions where you wear a bowl on your head. If Mario is standing, you can actually make him dance. Whenever you standing still, lightly press Control-stick Down. Mario will start moving his legs, but not go anywhere, and appears as if he is dancing. You can also make him dance like a ballerina. Move as if to do an Air Spin on the ground and press R once. Mario will be spinning very fast, to the point that there are sparks coming out of the ground. However, it will only work for about five seconds and you can shoot water at the same time to do a Ground Sprinkler attack.

Defeat giant eel
Go into the bottle in Noki Bay that the old man has. Spray all of the eel's teeth when his mouth opens.

Defeat Petey Parana
When he opens his mouth, spray water in. He will fall down. Do a ground pound on the thing sticking out of his stomach. Repeat this two more times.

Defeat Piranha Pete
When he opens his mouth, keep spraying water into it until he falls down. Then do a Ground Pound onto the little bump on his stomach . Do this three times to defeat him.

In the second battle with him, get to a high place and spray him with water. He will fall to the ground. Then, go face to face with him and he will try to spit sludge. Before he does, spray water into his mouth and repeat the process as done during the first battle. Do this three times.

Defeating Bowser
Bowser will shoot flames at you. Use the Rocket Nozzle to jump over them. Also spray the Bullet Bills that Baby Bowser shoots out. Go to each of the five fire symbols and shoot the Rocket Nozzle directly above them. Then, at your highest point, do a Ground Pound. Watch out though; the ledge falls off when you pound it. If you fall, use the Rocket Nozzle to try and get back up. Do this on all five of the symbols.

Defeating Gooper Blooper
When he punches you with his arm, jump on it and it will flatten. Then, press B and pull his arm off. Do this for each arm. When the arms are gone, pull off the nose. Do this process twice to win.

When facing Gooper Blooper the second time, do the same thing before, however you can sometimes just pull his nose off twice to win.

When facing Gooper Blooper the third time, use the same tactics used in the first two encounters.

Defeating King Boo
Spray King Boo to get him to do the slots. When it lands on the fruits, throw a red pepper into his mouth, then throw any fruit at him. Do this three times to win. Note: Land on coins for coins and ? for enemies.

Defeating Mantas
Hide in the hut where the "girl" is located during the Manta fight in Sirena Beach Episode 1. If you talk to her before the fight, she tells you that it was safe there during the first attack. When they pass over, they go on the rooftop over Mario and you will not get hurt. Run out, squirt them, then run back inside.

Talk to the hotel manager and Mantas will appear. Go onto a tree and spray it. It will split every time you spray it. This takes a long time but is not difficult.

Defeating Mecha-Bowser
Get a rocket and when you get close to him, shoot it at his head. Squirt the Bullet Bills with water, and also squirt the flames to avoid getting hit. Do this three times to win.

Defeating the gopher
To defeat the gopher in the cannon at Galeto Beach, spray the bombs he throws (they will turn blue), then throw them at him.

Defeating Wiggler
Water one of the Dune Buds and it will make a hill. Wiggler will run into it and turn over. After that, do a Ground Pound onto his stomach. Do this three times. Note: To fight Wiggler, you first have to do the mission with the mirrors to get him off the tower.

Delfino Plaza: Coins
Spray the wanted of Mario posters in Delfino Plaza to get one Coin each. Some do not always give Coins.

Spray into an open window in Delfino Bay to receive Coins.

In Delfino Plaza, most coins are in the underground manhole tunnels. Also try eating birds with Yoshi.

The best way to get 100 Coins is to defeat Bowser and get access to the airstrip. You can easily get 100 coins there. Otherwise, you can travel the underground pipes to collect coins and spray the "Mario Wanted" posters.

When in Isle Defino, collect 50 Coins to get one life then go to the Pianta who throws you into the window. Pay him one Coin, then steer away from the window and get another coin. You will get another life. Repeat the process for more lives.

Delfino Plaza: Lighting up Isle Delfino
The more Shine Sprites you collect, the more sun will get though.. When you have collected sixty Shines, all of Isle Delfino will light up.

Delfino Plaza: Shine Sprites
In Delfino Plaza A, go to the far end of the beach near the lighthouse. Spray all over the sand until you find an area where the sparks fly. Focus the water there until a Shine Sprite appears.

In Delfino Plaza B around the lighthouse area, find the pillars in the water. Jump from pillar to pillar using your Hover Nozzle. Jump until you get to a pillar with a pipe on it. Go into the pipe, and complete the obstacle course to get a Shine Sprite.

In Delfino Plaza C, on the west side of the plaza, there is a man on a rooftop with a weathervane that asks you if you want to pay a Coin to be thrown. Face the bridge with the tower on top and ask. You will be picked up and thrown into the tower, where a Shine Sprite is waiting for you.

In Delfino Plaza D, on the left side of the big tower with the defaced Shine Sprite, go into an open building. A man will give you a Shine Sprite if you break all the boxes in the room in 30 seconds or less. This is easy -- just do the Ground Pound (A + L). After that, you can go back and face even more boxes stacked up, and you will get a Shine Sprite. This is more difficult than the first time. Use a group of two stacked up boxes to get to the higher stacks and work your way down.

You can still do the crate mini-game on Delfino Plaza even after you get all the Shine Sprites from it. This will restore all the Coins and 1-Up Mushrooms in the level, but you will keep all the Coins you had when you starting the mini-game. Use this to get as many lives and coins as desired.

In Delfino Plaza E, Go to where the bridge crosses over a harbor where a boat constantly goes under. Get on top of the boat, and where the Coin is floating under the bridge, do a double jump into the Coin. You will surpass it and fly into a level where you must collect eight Red Coins to get a star. Its very difficult, but very fun.

Wash both of the bells in Delfino Plaza to get two Shine Sprites.

Wash the big sprite to get a Shine Sprite in Delfino Plaza. Do this by using the Rocket Nozzle.

Get the Yoshi on the roof then go to the manhole near where one of the boats are located. Go under the bridge, where the Coin hovering under the bridge is located. Go in the manhole and get to the island with the lady with the basket. While waiting for the second boat to come in, spit down a couple of coconuts to save on the ground. When the boat arrives and starts to circle the island, eat the coconut for the long trip, then jump on the boat. When the boat gets to the little tower where the banana is located, hop on the tower and wait for the third boat. When it gets near, eat the banana and hop on that boat. Ride it to the island where the stranded guy is located with the campfire. Spit with Yoshi on the stuff blocking the pipe. Hop into the pipe and it will take you to another star puzzle where you have to get on a leaf and squirt to go downstream and get the Red Coins. If you miss some, try to hover to a ledge and work your way through the channel, picking up Red Coins by hovering over then and landing on the ledge on the other side.

On the eastern part of the town, swim to the island where there is a man , a fire, and a pipe. There will be a yellow bird on the island. Spray the bird about three times and a Shine Sprite will appear on the pillars near the lighthouse.

Get a Rocket attachment and go to the lighthouse. Once there, rocket to the top of the lighthouse. You should be standing on a Black Pad with a fire symbol. Rocket up, and when high up, Ground Pound. The Black Pad should break, giving you a Shine Sprite.

Look for the little island by the place with all the fruit stands. Go there but do not go on the right side. Instead, try to swim towards the left side. You will see a yellow bird. Do not go to it. Stay where you are, enter look mode, then squirt it. If it flies in circles in the sky, remain in look mode and keep squirting it. A Shine Sprite will appear on those mountains by the lighthouse. You will need Yoshi to get it.

To get an extra Shine Sprite on a fairly easy sub-world, get the rocket FLUDD attachment and head towards the red cannon at Delfino Plaza. Swim along the right side near the rocks and pass the sideways hanging palm trees. Just past it, charge your rocket and jump just before the meter fills up. You will be able to enter a pipe on a tiny cliff. The mission is to collect eight Red Coins on one supply of water -- fill up before going there. There are two obvious Red Coins sitting around. To get the other Coins, shoot the red bird that flies around, extinguish the man on fire (shoot only when you have a clear shot to preserve water), jump on the two Flowerheads, shoot one Purple Flowerhead from a distance and jump on him, look around the high grass for an opening where a Red Coin lies just below (look near or around the edges of this area).

To get this Shine Sprite you need the Speed Nozzle (28 Shines required). In Delfino Plaza run around and face the "M" on the statue. Look to your left and you will see a building with swinging doors. It is the building where the man tells you to get the graffiti off his wall. Run up to the doors and charge up your Speed Nozzle. When you release it, it will shoot you through the doors where you can get the Shine Sprite.

Delfino Plaza: Sunglasses
To get the sunglasses, talk to the man wearing glasses on the beach in Delfino Plaza. The sunglasses tint your screen as if you were actually wearing them. He is also found in many other levels. He will not give them to you if you have less that 20 Shine Sprites. Talk to him again to take them off.

Delfino: Lives
When in Delfino Plaza, go to the beach. There is a hidden sewer grate. Spray around until you see the red circle just past the second umbrella. Ground Pound to go into the sewer ad find a 1-Up Mushroom there. Enter a stage, exit, go back, and repeat as needed.

Double Shinesprites Per Obstacle Course
After you have beaten an obstacle course try the level again. Go to the obstacle course. This time there will be a red bump on the ground. Do a ground pound on the bump. You will see a sign that says collect 8 red coins before the timer runs out! GOOD LUCK! You will have 1 minute and 30 seconds to get 8 red coins.

If you get them all, a shinesprite will appear at the end of the level. Try not to die or run out of water. Use your nozzle to have more advantage. Hover over to the shinesprite. Do not get the clear one, get the gold one. Do not jump off the cliff.

Double sided Mantas
Go to the Manta level. Talk to the hotel manager. When the Manta appears, break it into its smallest forms. Then, go under the roof and wait for the Mantas to be above it. Switch to Mario cam and look at the roof. It will appear as if the mantas are crawling under the roof.

Easy cleaning
Instead of taking a bath each time Mario gets dirty, do one or two spin jumps.

Easy lives
Whenever you complete a level, go to the water directly next to where the boats go in and out. Dive all the way to the bottom and you will see a 1-Up Mushroom. Whenever you return from a level or start from the beginning, it will be there.

Go to the island where the man is stranded and spray the fire. A 1-Up Mushroom will appear.

Anybody that gives you a blue coin the first time you wash them off, or get them fruit, will also give you a 1-Up if you wash them off or get them fruit again.

There is a manhole near the fruit stands near the lighthouse. Hop in it and go towards the lighthouse. As soon as you have a choice to go towards the water, do so. Follow the path to a 1-Up Mushroom.

Ending bonus
Successfully complete and save the game. You can pay 10 coins to use a boat near the clock tower where Yoshi is found to return to the Airport level at the start of the game. Additionally, you can get a shirt covered with Shine pictures from the man wearing sunglasses gives Mario sunglasses normally the game.

Extra crane
Go to Rico Harbor and go to where the Void level is located (on the very left). Go below the secret area and talk to the man on the boxes. Then, talk to him ten times in different positions. Once out of the ten times you will see a crane halfway in the wall, but when you are done talking to him the crane will disappear.

False reflection
Go to Delfino Plaza. Go to the area where the lighthouse stands (Gelato Beach). Splash into the ocean behind the light house and climb onto the rocky platforms. Then, go up the platforms and you will see a pipe. Turn on your Hover Nozzle. Next stand close to the edge of the platform, but face the pipe. Finally, use your Hover Nozzle into the pipe. You should see Mario in the reflection of the water when he is falling down the pipe, even though you are supposed to see the pipe.

Faster movement
To make Mario get around a little faster, use the single spray nozzle and shoot a small amount of water in front of him. Run and press B to do a belly slide. He will slide through the water and keep going at a high speed. This will continue as long as you do not hit anything.

Note: Keep belly hopping rapidly to go very fast. This is especially helpful in the timed and racing episodes.

Bubba-Proof
In Gelato Beach and other levels where there are Bubbas (the big red fish that drags Mario underwater), you can keep them from doing this attack with this little trick.

Pick up a piece of fruit and start swimming with it. It will enable a glitch where they cannot drag you. This is very useful for the Red Coin Shine in Gelato Beach.

Conserve Lives
To build up Mario's stock, try to quit stages when you are about to die. This would apply to stages like the racing stages (with the Islander who likes to race) and some of the mini-stages (like the Pachinko stage).
If you can restart the stage easily (and quickly), you should learn to quit when Mario is in danger of dying. This will let you have a large stock of lives to tackle stages and mini-stages that you want a lot of lives to spend on (the Dead Leaf in a Dirty Brook mini-stage comes immediately to mind).

HINTS:

Easy lives:
Whenever you complete a level, go to the water directly next to where the boats go in and out. Dive all the way to the bottom and you will see a 1-Up Mushroom. Whenever you return from a level or start from the beginning, it will be there.

Go to the island where the man is stranded and spray the fire. A 1-Up Mushroom will appear.

Go to the second obstacle level (with spinning cubes and platforms) and get the extra life on the star and the one floating by the spinning cube (second). Exit the area and repeat this as many times as desired.

Finding Shine Sprites:
Go out to the island where the man is stranded. You will see a gold bird flying around. Shoot it with your water cannon and a Shine Sprite will appear.

Go to one of the rooftops in Delfino Plaza with a weathervane. You will see a man standing there. Talk to him and he will ask if you want to be thrown for one Coin. Answer "Yes". When he throws you, Mario will land in a room with a Shine Sprite.

Play and win the crate game in Delfino Plaza twice to get two Shine Sprites.

Finding coins:
Find a patch of flowers and spray them all quickly. Four or five Coins will appear from the middle of the patch.

Yoshi's Spritzer Squirt:
Press R, then press A.

Yoshi sprinkler:
Rotate the Analog-stick then press A, then R.

Swim faster:
