Cheat: Loose your weapon to the boss?
If you die at a boss character in PSO, here's a little trick to get back your main weapon. Before you fight any boss, set a telepipe (or use the spell Ryuker if you have it) close to the boss teleporter. Now, if you die fighting the boss, go back to the main town, and take the telepipe you set back to the boss teleporter. Go back to the boss character, locate where your weapon is and get it. As long as you DON'T equip your main weapon, and keep it in your inventory you'll keep it even if you die to the boss.
Cheat: Hidden Costume Colors
Start a new game and select your character. Access the Character Name selection and enter the coresponding code for your character. Once you have entered your code you can then acess the Costume selection and you will have 2 more colors to choose from.

Unlockable: Hard Mode/Vhard Mode
Beat the off-line version of the game to unlock hard mode and again for Very Hard Mode. You get more expierience and better items in these modes.
Hint: Quick Charge With A Buddy
Here's a little trick if your bud's having a hard time trying to get his MAG's Photon Blast charged quicker.

First, remove all attacks and magic from your Customization menu.

Place Resta in the R trigger customization menu and place it on the B button (the one with the blue outline)

Place any spell like Grants or Zonde on the other customization menu's B button.

Target a player and quickly tap the R trigger and then the B button. You should cast whatever spell you linked to the first customization menu's B button and hit the player with it. You won't damage the player, but it will charge their MAG's Photon Blast.

It might take some time to master, but keep practicing with it and you'll do fine.

Hint: Screen Capture Feature
To access the screenshot capture program on PSO you'll need to have an additional Dreamcast controller plugged into port D of your Dreamcast, and an empty VMU. The VMU has to be TOTALLY EMPTY because the screenshot you take using the PSO capture program needs 195 blocks of space. Insert the VMU into socket 2 of the DC pad plugged into port D. Now, start up Phantasy Star Online and get into a game with a character - it doesn't matter if it's offline or online. Now, to take a screenshot, take the DC pad plugged into port D and press Start, A and X buttons together. If you've done everything properly, a black screen should appear with some numbers counting down at the upper right corner. Once the countdown ends, you'll revert back to your gameplay screen. You now have the portrait saved on the VMU! Though we have yet to figure out if there's any way to see the portrait on your Dreamcast, you can upload it through email and send it to friends! Additionally, you may be able to upload your screens on where you can also view other PSO portraits on the site.
Hint: Delsabers Shield
First you should play in the ruins in either hard/vhard mode. Keep fighting the DelSabers until you find a "Delsaber's Right Arm" and a "Delsaber's Left Arm" Than in the Guild missions complete the quest called "Doc's Secret Plan." Complete this quest; return to the Pioneer 2. Than start up the next quest, "Unsealed Door." Find Dr. Montague on the Pioneer 2 (he's just outside the Medical Center. Talk to him and he'll give you the 'Delsaber's Buster' and/or 'Delsabers Shield'

Hint: Hidden Artwork
Place your Phantasy Star disc into your PC-CDrom. Open the folder called Extra. Inside you will see three more folders containing images of different sizes.
Hint: Frying Pan
Earn the frying pan by following the steps listed below:

  • First you must complete every offline quest on any difficulty level. This will allow you to play any quest as many times as you want.
  • Go to the Quest called "Secret Delivery".
  • Locate the fat man walking around and talk to him.
  • Talk to him and he will tell you about a secret club called WEAPONS.
  • After talking to him and receiving the emblem you must complete the quest or all efforts will be lost.
  • You must now locate four other WEAPONS members. They can be found in Quests: Claiming Stakes, The Value of Money, The Lost Bride and Gran Squall.
  • You must complete each quest after receiving your approval from the WEAPONS members or you will not save your approvals.
  • After receiving all four approvals you must return to the Fat man in Secret Delivery.
  • He will direct you to go see the Boss of WEAPONS to receive your membership.
  • Walk towards the shops and there will be a woman in the corner.
  • This will be the Fat man's wife. She will give you the Frying Pan as a token of your membership.
  • Have Fun!
Hint: Be A Pal-Restore Other's TP!
To restore a friend's TP when you're online is rather easy(Though you have to practice it, it takes a couple tries) Go to Techniques in your menu, and go to Resta. When you are there press Up and A at the same time. It should make a sound like Ryuker, instead of the usual Resta sound. If it works then your friend's TP will shoot up like a balloon.
Easter Egg: Special Character Animations
If you're sick of your character just standing around like a motionless robot, you can use this handy little trick if you have a keyboard to make your character perform some different animations while you are in the lobby.

On your Dreamcast keyboard, hold down the "Alt" key and then press any of the function keys (F1 through F12) and you'll see a new animation. Now your character will have a little more life!

Easter Egg: Fun with the Load Screen
Bored while waiting through that first load screen? Move the analog stick around and you'll notice a little pulsing star trail follwing your actions. Not much use to it, but it keeps your mind busy while you wait!

When in the caves, you'll run into poisonous plants. If you stand on the remands of a slain enemy, their poison is harmless.

General Info about the game

Basics:
While in the Lobby of any Block on any Ship use the alt + f keys on the keyboard to do stunts, poses, etc.

When looking at weapons, the COLOR of the Weapon's name indicates its uniqueness and rarity. If you see a weapon with an X by it, you might as well sell it because you won't ever be able to use it.  But shadowed out letters are OK, because it means you will eventually be able to use it.
White: Infinite
Green: Finite number
Yellow: Hard to find
Red: You'd have a better chance of being killed by a team mate.
Blue + ????: Indicates an unknown property

When you feed your MAG (do so when ever the chance occurs) feeding it the right stuff will get you better Synchronization percentages.  Feed it things like healing stuff (Dimate/Trimate); DO NOT feed it moon atomizers! (They don't like them, and thus will not grow.)

ALSO anything with the word grinder in it...SNAG IT!  It makes your weapon more powerful! So far I've only come across Monogrinders, but digrinders and trigrinders more than likely exist.

I wonder what would happen if I fed a mono/di/tri-grinder to a MAG...

Fight The Last Boss With Max Stats

This Code will put you at the last boss with 999 HP and 500 TP. First load A Game,then press start to display the menu screen. Quickly press B,Up,L,L Start+A. This Code Will Also Reset Your Keyboard settings!

Unlock Ruins

In order to do this you must defeat all the bosses exept Dark Falz(boss of ruins or the  "final boss")and talk to the princeipal then activate the 3 pillers(stone cylinders)which is located in forest2,cave2,and mine2(1 in each level).Then beat the boss the mines then go to the door with 3 symbols and you unloced it.



Beating Dark Falz on Hard

Dark Falz was pretty easy on normal difficulty setting, but now things are gonna get a lot harder for you.

FIRST PHASE:

Destroy the purple spinning blades as normal. You'll have to take more of them down, though.

SECOND PHASE:

Attack the heads with any weapon you have. Sword masters should wait until the head lowers to release those blades. Hit him with your hardest attacks, but don't forget to take out some of the spinning blades or they'll cut you in two before you can beat him. Dark Falz will occasionally use powerful techniques on you. These include rabarta and rafoie. Make sure you keep your health at a respectable level if you don't want to become toast.

THIRD PHASE:

Smash the bulb on Dark Falz'z underside. Dark Falz's attacks are now more powerful, and you certainly don't want to stay too close to him for very long. He'll also slow you down occasionally. When he does, he's about to rain energy bolts on you. Use Anti or moon atomiser and run like crazy to avoid. Its more luck than skill, because you'll never know where the bolts will land.

FINAL PHASE:

Where the battle ended for you on normal, it only begins on hard. The colourful Dark Falz will now unleash some powerful blue bolts at you. Run to avoid them. When he flies up, be careful, he probably use a magical attack (seemingly unavoidable) that can (and most probably will) devastate your health meter. Heal quickly and wait for him to land. You cannot attack Dark Falz when he is glowing, wait for him to turn a dull blue before hitting him with your hardest attacks. He won't stay there for long, though, and soon he'll be repeating the cycle.
When he is low on energy, he'll 'borrow' yours for a while. You'll see an image of your character comming out of you and a line from you to Dark Falz will be visible on the map. DO NOT ATTACK DURING THIS TIME. To do so, will take your own health, not his. I almost killed myself by doing this.
Repeat until he croaks... congratulations, you've just beaten one of the toughest opponents in the game (you'll get 4500 EXP).

As a side note - there are plenty of rare and expensive items to be found in V. hard mode. If you can find Mag cells in the forest, you can use them to evolve your mag!

Delsabers Buster / Shield

To pick up some deadly weaponry and deal some poetic justice to the nasty delsabers in the ruins do the following:

First, complete all the missions on normal difficulty setting. Go to the ruins on hard mode and fight some delsabers and you may come across delsabers right arm or left arm. Pick this up and save and quit.

Re-enter normal difficulty and load up the guild quest "Unsealed Door". Talk to the Doc with the funny hat wandering around outside the hospital and he'll transform the left arm (or right) into a powerful item.

De Role Armor

Fight de role boss at the end of the caves on hard or very hard mode until he drops it.

Dragon Slayer Sword

Keep on fighting the dragon boss at the forest on hard or very hard until he drops the dragon slayer sword. Which is kind of ironic because if it is a dragon slayer then how did the dragon get it? 

Get Frying Pan from Weapons Members

To get Kireek's weapon "SOUL EATER"

To got this weapon you have to start  the quest called mr. osto's research.In the mission you will find a Hunewearl named sue. when you end the quest without her dying she will ask you what your name is, answer her sorry,I can't. Then after the mission go to a new mission unsealed door, then if you look around Mines2 then you will see sue talk to her then complete the mission.go to the quest called waterfall tears. after beating kroe's sister, desend further into cave2 then you will see Kireek he will threaten to kill (yes, you have to fight him)after beating the quest go to the quest called black paper then Kireek will want a rematch in cave1 of the quest (you have to fight him in the dark!) then go to the  quest called from the depts. after beating the quest keep going ahead into the ruins then this will be your last fight with Kireek. If you beat him his weapon will be yours to take!!P.S.(in normal mode if you tell sue your name and then beat all quests it wouldn't matter if you quest again so you would have to start over in hard mode!!)

Duplicating Items

You must be online to do this trick. You need a secured room with password lock and a trustworthy friend. Two people are required. Have one person stay in the room while you do the duplication. The person that stays in the room must never leave until the process is done or you lose all your items. Empty everything in your character's inventory, such as money and equipped items. Do not worry about your bank -- leave it alone. You must carry only the items you want duplicated. Do not equip anything or the duplication would not work. Carry the items you want duplicated. Quit then save. Log back in, do a search on your friend, enter the password locked room and drop all the items that you want to duplicate. After dropping the items, press the power button to turn off the Dreamcast. Since the file is already saved, it will not be affected. However, the items you dropped will still be there in the room. Repeat the process until desired number of items has been reached. If!
 done correctly, you will now have a multiple supply of items.

Entering a Full Server

When you find a full server (i.e. US:Oberon Block 1 has 100 or more users), you normally cannot enter. However this can be bypassed if someone that you know (have his card) is online at the moment in the server you want to enter. Search him, go to search result, and input the command "Meet The User".

Easy Experience

Start a new game and go to the place where they give you the hunter job. Select the third choice (named battle training). In this job, you get a partner that is very strong. To get easy experience just hit all the monsters once and have him kill them with one slice. You still get 4 experience points. Before you finish the job, leave the forest, go back to the guide place, and cancel your job. Then, restart it and all the monsters and items will be back making it easy to get experience points, money, and items.

Go through Locked Doors

Equip a Double Saber or no weapon. Then, go to the farthest side of the door and move as close to the door as possible. Get as sharp of an angle as possible without moving when doing Triple Attack. After doing Triple Attack once, go towards the door that was just attacked. Get as sharp of an angle as possible, then repeat. After the second or third Triple Attack, you should be able to walk through the door. If not, try again.

Experience Every Mag

Build your Mag up to level 70, then for every 5 levels build him up beyond that to get a different Mag, even the ones they say you cannot have. All you have to do is build up one category for the Mag. For example, at level 70 boosted your Mind and to get Kabanda. Just work on one of the four categories only and watch what happens -- every fifth level your Mag will change by itself. If you get a MAG that you like and do not want to change, just balance out your Mag (feed all four categories evenly) and it will remain that way. Atomizers are good for this purpose.

Overriding illegal item possession

Use the following trick to override that new warning that Sega posts when you are carrying duplicated, grinded, and useable items (such as Trimates, Trifluids, Star Atomizers, etc.) that are maxed out past the limit. Note: The grinded items (such as Level 999 Mags, Stag Cultry +255, etc.) and useable items are not fixable. Only keep items that are legitimate and exist in the game. Keep your useable items to the limit of the maximum (10). If you get the warning, quickly quit and save the game. Go to the offline game. Deposit all weapons and armor in your bank. Just have useable items (Trimates, Trifluids, Star Atomizers, etc.) in your character's inventory. Quit and save. Log back online. Join a team or create one, pick up your items from the bank and equip them. Quit and save for the final time. Log back online and resume the game.

Avoiding Phantasy Pirates

Phantasy Pirates are thieves. They steal your money and weapon when you die. Then run away or deny they stole it. To prevent getting caught in this position, leave your money in the bank and do not play with someone who is suspicious, acts very strangely, or exhibits stealing behavior. If you think you will die, equip a weapon that is not very valuable to you.

When you first join a team, ask everyone for their guild card. Thieves do not give away their guild card, because guild cards are a symbol of trust. If someone is constantly asks questions such as "What is your hobby?" or "Where do you live?" and there are items around, either pick up the items, then answer, or do not answer at all. If the person is acting suspicious and wants to trade with you, do not drop your money or item first -- or drop only one Meseta or a Saber +1 until you can see that their item is really the item they said it was.

If a thief keeps stealing people's items, get a lot of monsters after you. Then, run over to the thief and make them chase the pirate. Try to get at least ten monsters and make sure no one helps. Also make sure no one heals the pirate

Problems with Claiming a Stake

To pass the "Claiming a Stake" guild quest make sure that when pick up the white star things and that you see the white box saying that you got the item, because it is possible that you pick up the star without getting the box, and this will cause you much headache because the game will not recognize that you picked up the star

Hacked item warning

Do not accept hacked items. You will get a warning on the screen. Sega representatives patrol the servers, so be cautious.

Rag Rappy items

Attack a Rag Rappy while playing the Forest Areas and it will go down. Wait until it gets back up, and attack it again before it runs off. They will end up leaving items that they have been collecting.

Entering the Ruins area

After defeating the Boss of the Mines, you will arrive in an underground cave with a blocked door with three symbols on it. These symbols correspond to the three giant pillars found throughout the previous levels. You must go back through the Forest, Caves, and Mines to activate the pillars. Each pillar is located in the second area of each zone. Once all of the pillars are active, go through the Mines again, defeat the Boss, and then walk through the newly opened door.

Avoid walking near traps and enemies

Normally, you cannot run when near a trap or enemy. To avoid this, press Start to display the main menu. You may now run again.

Saving money for Forces

When using Force, collect items and then sell them. Buy Resta disk from the tool shop in Pioneer 2. You will not have to buy Mates. Also, instead of using Telepipes, use Ryuker. It will cost some TP but it is worth it -- it saves a ton.

Easy Ruins entry

When you defeat Vel Opt and transport to the Ruins door, use the "Go through locked doors" trick to go to Ruins without touching the monuments.



Save screenshots

Place a completely empty VMU in slot 2 of a controller that is plugged into port D. A screenshot requires 195 blocks of space. Start an online or offline game. Hold A and press Start on controller D to save the current screen as a full screenshot. Hold X and press Start on controller D for a close-up shot. If done correctly, a black screen with a countdown will appear. The game will resume after the countdown, and the screenshot will be on the previously empty VMU. Go to with the Dreamcast Planetweb browser to transfer your snapshot from your email mailbox. You also can upload your screens on Sonic Team's Official PSO Visual BBS webpage and view other screenshots.

Character movements

Note: This trick requires a Dreamcast keyboard. Hold [Alt] and press [F1] through [F12] to make your character perform various movements.

Change views

Hold L + R and press Up on controller B, C, or D when in an area in online mode to switch views to that of one of your teammates.

Control loading screen

Press the Analog-stick during the loading screen that features streaks of light coming towards you to move a small twinkling star around.

VMU warning

When creating a character for the game, make sure that your VMU has been formatted (i.e. reset) at the VMU file screen for the Dreamcast. If this is not done, something can go wrong causing your character file to become corrupted, according to Sega.

Loads Of Money

Complete the game on normal mode now go on hard mode in the forest and you will kick up pallach's and habert's, if your licky you will get railguns trifluids also trimates cross armours hyper frames etc sell the items but keep the trifluids if you a force or a hunter, ranger if you are a android sell them or give them to your mag andif you a force or a hunter, ranger you will get something like 2,000 or 1,411 etc plus you money you get in the forests you will get loads of money.       

Extra Costumes

Extra Costume: At the character select screen,choose any character type.At the character creation screen,select character name.At the character name screen,enter any of the following names according to the character type you choose.If you enter the code correctly,two extra costumes will be available in the costume menu.

The Namer

There is a certain weapon whiuch can be obtained by doing the following:
1.destroy dalk falz on very hard mode and complete all quests on v hard.
2.Go to the shops and you should see a gun called the ?????Namer in the weapon shop.
3.buy this gun and then go to the tekker and he will tell you to give your weapon a name(E.G Max).
4.now this weapon will transform into a gun which is crossed between a rifle and a delsaber.
5.Now go kick some ass!!

This weapon also gives you the dalk falz disk when sold!!!

Go thru locked doors

Do you hate sitting there and asking yourself ,"where's the key to the door", you dont have to do that anymore!!(note:you need only bare hands to do this!!!)what you do is you go up to a door  that is lock but walk until you are hitting the door, then you use the bare hands combo until you get thru
NOTE:you can only do it on Cave,Mine, or ruins!

Secret Weapons

So far, I have found the Book of Katana3 and Delsabres right arm. But, about two days ago, i came acress a special weapon named AGITO(IT HAS 503 HIT POWER!!!). I am sure there are many more katanas out there, and will post my news here later. If anyone has news, email me... P.s.- you cant feed mono/di/or trigrinders to a mag or use them on a special weapon, and any weapon can go atleats above +20 (i have a buster at 21.)

To Get Big EXP

First of all get the food addidict quest. Now enter it and finish it but leave the quest after you have finish. Go back on it again Until you have lv 100. is quest will get you 22,000 exp if it is finish right.

Plus if you are online with 3 other player the bad guys health go up by 500 hp if on vhard 250 if on hard 50 if on normal. plus there is more bad guys to kill so you will get big exp points

Get Double Saber

In the mines on very hard mode an have at least 30 luck an keep on going in deeper into the mine and you will get it.  

SPECIAL WEAPONS

In the ruins and mines on hard mode you will get SPECIAL WEAPON if you go to the tekker with a SPECIAL WEAPON weapon from the mines 1 or 2 you will get SUPPRESSED GUN or the PHONTON CLAW. In the ruins the SPECIAL WEAPON will be the DB SABER and the FIRE SEPTER kill DARK FALTZ to get the VARISTIA. on Vary hard Kill the forest boss to get a SPECIAL WEAPON witch is DRAGON SLAYER.

HINT:
Kill the cave boss to get the armour called:
PARASITE ARMOUR:del role          

Beat VolOpt easy!!

Get a Buster or RareSaber (AGITO!) before trying this. When the fight starts, your Mag may juice you up (Mine casts Shifta/Deband on me.) and you'll see a face in the monitors. Rangers and Forces need to shoot down the thing on the ceiling whan possible, and Hunters need to go for th monitors that are red. After a while, totem poles will pop out of the floor. Everyone needs to clobber the red one. After a while, the screen will shake and you'll fight VolOpt x2! Give 2 2-hit combos, and run in a circle until he finishes an attack. And Volia'! Fried Opt a la' mode!

Hidden artwork
Place the game disc in a PC compatible CD-ROM drive to find images from the game in the "Extra" folder.

Extra difficulty settings
Successfully complete the off-line version of the game to unlock the hard difficulty setting.
